Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 18, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
These terms form an agreement between you and Scriva ("we", "our", or "us"). By creating an account or using Scriva — the web application or any related service — you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent where you live, to use Scriva. If you use Scriva on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.
2. What Scriva does
Scriva is a research and writing platform. Depending on the features available to your account, it lets you:
- create projects and organise research within them
- save sources — web pages, PDFs, and documents
- annotate and highlight your saved sources
- run AI-assisted semantic search across your own material
- ask questions of Ora, Scriva's AI assistant
- write in the editor and generate citations and bibliographies
Features change as the product develops. We may add, alter, or remove functionality.
3. Your account
You agree to provide accurate account details and to keep them current. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Tell us promptly at admin@scriva.so if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the documents, sources, annotations, and notes you add to Scriva. You grant us a limited licence to store and process that material solely to operate the service for you — which includes sending relevant content to third-party AI providers so results can be generated and returned to you.
We do not train AI models on your work. Scriva operates no models of its own, and we do not use your documents, sources, annotations, or notes to train, fine-tune, or otherwise improve any AI model.
You warrant that you have the legal right to upload, store, and process every document and source you add to Scriva, and that doing so does not infringe anyone else's rights.
We accept no liability for material uploaded without the rights to do so. Responsibility for what you upload rests solely with you. Where we receive a credible complaint that content in an account is infringing or was obtained unlawfully, we may remove that content and, where appropriate, suspend or terminate the account.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload unlawful content, or content you have no right to upload
- use Scriva to infringe intellectual property or privacy rights
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source of the service
- scrape the service, or circumvent rate limits, quotas, or access controls
- interfere with the service's operation or security, or with other users' use of it
- resell or redistribute the service without our written permission
6. Third-party sources and copyright
Scriva helps you capture and organise material from elsewhere on the web and from files you supply. It grants you no rights in that third-party material. You are responsible for ensuring your capture, storage, and use of any source complies with the rights of its owner, the terms of the site it came from, and applicable copyright law.
7. AI-generated output
Summaries, search results, chat answers, and citations produced by Scriva's AI features can be incomplete or wrong. They are assistance, not authority. Verify AI output before relying on it — citations and bibliographic details especially — and do not treat it as legal, medical, financial, or professional advice.
8. Communications and newsletter
By creating a Scriva account you agree to these terms and consent to receiving Scriva's product-update newsletter, delivered via Resend. We use this list only to share product updates and changes to Scriva — never for third-party marketing — and we do not sell or share your address.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email; unsubscribing does not affect your account. Separately, we send essential service emails — account confirmation, security notices, and billing — which are not part of the newsletter and cannot be opted out of while you hold an account.
9. Availability, changes, and beta features
We aim to keep Scriva available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, updates, and outages happen. Some features may be offered as beta or experimental — these may change or be withdrawn, and may be less stable than the rest of the service.
10. Termination
You may stop using Scriva and request deletion of your account at any time by contacting admin@scriva.so. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where required by law. On termination, your right to use the service ends; we will handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Scriva is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, lost data, or loss arising from your reliance on AI-generated output or from content you uploaded without the rights to do so. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Scriva develops. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, give notice through the service or by email. Continuing to use Scriva after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
